Tomorrow!

So... it looks like tomorrow (25th) the brothers from the construction group should be getting here.  It might take a day or two for them to get setup, so hopefully by Thursday or Friday we should be starting the actual construction.  Of course the memorial campaign started on Saturday.  We are having three memorials again this year in our territory.  One will be here in town and two others will be in small towns a few minutes away.  We are still trying to figure out how to fit 150 people in the main location here in town.   At our meeting on Saturday with 54 people there was standing room only.  It looks like we're going to have to ask permission to block the street in front of the house where we are meeting to be able to put chairs outside too.

We've removed almost all of the tin from the rest of the roof.  We have to wait for the construction group to be able to go any farther.

We want to thank you all for your continued support!  Check back soon for more pictures...

New Kingdom Hall!

We are excited to announce that next week we will begin work on a new Kingdom Hall!  Over the past several years we've slowly been looking for a new piece of land here in Imbert.  The piece of land where we are is too small to build one of the society's designed kingdom halls and it's been hard to find land that meets all of the branch's requirements.  Recently though we've received some donations from some of the English congregations here on the north coast, so the branch decided to "remodel" the hall we have.  Technically it's labeled a "remodel", but we're really just tearing it down and building a new one on the spot.

Below are some pictures of the hall over the past few years.  The existing building has been there for a long time.  It used to be a hardware store, where the local cable company had their office and even as a kingdom hall it's been remodeled several times.  It has some serious problems though.  The wall with the information board is more than 5 inches off plum.  The roof is sagging dangerously and some old wooden windows need replaced.

Since it's a "remodel", we won't get the full support of any of the construction groups here in the country.  On the 15th, five brothers from one of the construction groups will be arriving to work on the project.  There will also be some coming from other congregations to help out.

Check back soon for more pictures...
